• The Green Congregation Challenge Taskforce

    Dear Friends,

Beginning at last fall’s Earth Communion Sunday (10/1/17)  – a working team came together given the exciting possibilities for us as congregation and church.   Since then, and working with FCC’s ministerial team, staff, along with lay leaders – we are excited to be moving forward beginning with an Earth Day Service, Celebration, and Luncheon to be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Appreciating that today’s environmental realities call us as people of faith to protect God’s good creation, the Massachusetts Conference Environmental Ministries has launched an initiative to certify local UCC churches with three levels of achievement.  With your help, churches like ours that put an emphasis on being part of the solution are recognized and celebrated for their commitment to moral and responsible choices concerning the care of God’s good creation.   As of now – both within the Mass Conference and Greenovate of Boston – FCC of Winchester is noted as a forward-thinking congregation, one committed to environmental awareness and stewardship.

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, an Earth Day Service will be held – addressing our summons as people of faith to safeguard our environment for current and future generations.    Immediately following the church service, an 11th-hour luncheon and presentation will be held in Chidley Hall for all ages.    Come, join us and become a caretaker of God’s good creation!
