  • Leadership Team December Update

leader-wWe’ve added a new element to our Leadership Team meetings: each month, one member shares their faith journey, perhaps reminiscing about what first brought them to FCCW, and how the church has sustained them and strengthened their relationship with Christ in changing ways over the years.

So it’s felt very appropriate that much of the Leadership Team’s recent energy has been focused on ensuring that our physical structure is prepared to support the spiritual life of the church and its members for decades to come.  In addition to moving ahead with the repairs of the Fisk Organ, which is scheduled to begin in February and to be completed by Palm Sunday, the steeple exterior is in need of repair. The LT agreed with the Facility Ministry’s plan to spend up to $20,000 to undertake immediate and urgent repairs this year, and will be formulating a plan to examine options for ongoing maintenance of our historic spire.

We are also considering how to support our facility better by conducting a review of what it takes to manage it, including looking at our rental income and the staff and services required to support those uses, the maintenance and cleaning of the facility and the funds at our disposal.

Finally, the team we have assembled to embark on a long-term financial modeling project will include in their work an examination of the needed maintenance costs over the long-term, as well as the revenue base needed to support them.

We are now about halfway through the 3-year trial period for our new church structure. We’d like to know how you think it’s going so far! Look for church leaders at coffee hour over the coming weeks, where we’ll be looking to have some brief conversations with you to get your thoughts on how we’re living into our mission.
