This Sunday, the 7th and last Sunday of the Easter Season (Pentecost, next week) finds the disciples preparing for life without Jesus’ actual presence. Of course, the first thing they do is to get all their ducks in a row by casting lots to replace Judas Iscariot. In the Gospel reading from John, we are privileged to listen in to Jesus’ prayer as he prepares to ascend to his heavenly parent. We will focus on Jesus’ plea that “they may be one, as you and I are one.” This, “that they may all be one” is the watchword of the United Church of Christ. And, it’s Mother’s Day – a day when we celebrate our mothers; there is no one among us without one. For many that celebration is one of thanksgiving and love; the choir honors that with a beautiful anthem that lifts up Heavenly Love. We hope you will worship with us this Sunday.
